I'm Yan Liu, founder and publisher of 1 Plus Books, we've been publishing Chinese titles for the Chinese diaspora for 11 years in the SF Bay Area -- and we are the first Chinese-language press selected for the IBPA Innovative Voices Program.
Talk to me about: reaching multilingual and diaspora communities, library and institutional sales, navigating distribution as a one-person shop, or what it actually takes to build a culturally specific press from scratch in the American market. I'm also just beginning to develop our first English-language title, so I'd love to connect with anyone who has made the leap from a non-English press into the broader American market.
